From the Chairman
The last few years have seen an exciting period of growth for the Association in its quest to represent local communities.
There are many mining projects, both current and potential across the State. There is also a strong need for mining communities to keep abreast of any mining related developments in their area, and where possible, work towards a partnership of co-existence to benefit their regions and deliver sustainable outcomes.
An understanding of the bigger picture is essential for developing a solid strategy. This is where the Mining Related Councils can make a significant contribution to the well being of those communities.
Our role is in developing policies and legislative changes in conjunction with government and the industry; advocacy on a vast array of issues to ensure effective environmental protection; management and rehabilitation, economic development and harmony, and a fair and equitable return to the community from any mining activity. In this way the Association is helping to ensure that communities derive maximum benefits from mining related developments in their area.
